(1)
Complete not only the assigned homework, but also work all of the odd problems
in the textbook and check the answers.
(2) BEFORE EACH CLASS read over the section in the textbook to be covered that day. You will not understand all that you read, but you will understand the lecture better than ever before.
(3) Within 4 hours after class, review your notes & text and work the homework problems.
(4) To learn math you need to work problems EVERY DAY - not only on days you have math. If you only study the night before the test you will not succeed.
(5) Study cumulatively. Continue to work problems from section 4.1 after completing 4.2. Continue to work problems in 4.1 and 4.2 after completing 4.3, etc. You don't have to work all the problems, just select 4 or 5 from each sections.
(6) Create your own Practice Test after each class and begin a note card with formulas, rules and theorems (for geometry). Write problems from the current section on another sheet of paper and work each without looking at the notes. If you get the answer wrong, rework the problem until you get the correct answer.
(7) If you have questions about any of the information presented during class - ask your teacher.
(8) The general rule for college is to spend 4 hours studying for each hour of class. That means you should spend 16 hours a week working math problems for a 4 hour class.

These are the steps the students who succeed in my class follow - and you can
too. I hope this is helpful.
