Spring 2020

Amari made an A for the first semester in her Algebra I class and has been accepted into the IB program in her High School.  She was resourceful with remote learning by networking with others in her class and using other sites to learn the material.  She is one to accept challenges and excel.  Amazing!

Nicollette has been meeting for just a few weeks and has developed a new normal of getting 100's on her tests and quizzes for Algebra I!!  Her confidence is building and she has great potential. Way to go Nicollette!

Mike made a commitment to work on his College Algebra class and it paid off.  He made a A on his first test!!   We meet weekly and he is engaged and willing to tackle the tough problems. Yay Mike!

John reached out to me for a test review and made a 90 on the Chapter 2 College Algebra test on Quadratics!!  He caught on quickly and took extensive notes to help him understand the concepts.  Terrific job, John.

Zach made a 93.75 on his Chapter 2 Quadratic Functions test in College Algebra!! He reached out for tutoring because he wasn't happy with his grade in the class so far.  We met several time to work on his online homework and he quickly picked up each concept then he made this happen. Wonderful work!

Nicolette made  90 on her test on exponential functions in Algebra I. It is still an A!! We'll take that. Super job!!

Fall 2019

Daniella made an  80 on her Calculus I class.  Lots if derivative (Chain Rule and trig functions) and implicit derivatives.  Tough test.  Way to go.

Abby is taking College Algebra and we meet every week to work on homework assignments.  She made an 83 on her first test, 80 on the second and has a solid B in the class.  To study she looked over her homework and did similar question with the online assignments.  Terrific work!

Jeremy is taking College Algebra and he got a 81 on his last test on Polynomials and Rational functions.  He crammed and studied and watched Mathtv and worked homework lots of time.  He put in a lot of time doing math because he never took Algebra 1.  SUPER!!

Koma is taking Business Calculus.  We met as I was putting up new posters and he took one of the tabs.  The second time we met we worked review problems for his test on Maximums, Minimums and Concavity.  Koma is motivated, engaged, fun to work will and he made an 80 on his test.  Awesome knowing you and being part of your success.  Great work!!!

Jeff is taking College Algebra.  He made 100 on his first test and 97.5 on his midterm.  His class meets once a week, for 4 hours on Saturday.  4 hours of Math!!! What a great accomplishment!!!

Arari has a B for her first quarter grade.  She worked very hard for this grade.  We meet every week and she is always open to suggestions. Last year she had a C in math, but this year because of this B she now qualifies for the Honor Society. Excellent improvement and congratulation!!

Lauren made a 95 on her College Algebra test.  This Chapter 3 test was tough.  Lots of parts to memorize and then put together.  She wants to be an engineer, so her objective is to not just pass the class, but learn the material so she can pursue a new career.  This attitude changes everything.  Way to go Lauren!!

Riley made an 86 on her Finite Math test.  This is an unusual class.  This test was on 4 chapters!!!  This was on elections and voting systems, divider methods, apportionment - Jefferson, Hamilton and Adam's methods.  Lots of memorizing.  She got a B with the help of her tutor (me) and went over and over and over the problems. Yay Riley!!

Abby made a B on her Chapter 3 College Algebra Test.  This was a complicated test with lots to memorize.  Polynomials, finding zeros using Descarte, synthetic division, rational zeros (p/q), rational functions with vertical, horizontal and oblique asymptote and graphing.  To study she reviewed her homework problems on MyMathLab by doing similar problems.  Her recommendation is to study a lot!!

Lauren made another 100 on her second College Algebra test at USF!! This is a monumental task.  She works hard and is so much fun to help.  As we continue to meet we have so much fun tackling the pitfalls on MyMathLab and her efforts to learn a new way to look at mathematics.  Math is all about learning the rules and applying them.  Lauren has mastered that.  Way to go!!!!

Lauren made 100 on her first College Algebra test at USF.  This is extremely hard to do.  The tests are on the computer and if the notation is wrong (for example if you type in (2.3) instead of (2,3) for a coordinate) the answer is wrong).  She is following my How to Succeed in Math by doing the problems in the text, as well as, the MyMathLab assignments.  It pays off!!!  Excellent Lauren!!!

Amari made a 94 on her first test of the year.  She is in the 7th grade and taking PreAlgebra.  We worked together during the summer and it really paid off.  We were able to tackle some complicated Algebra this summer, so she is way ahead of her classmates.  Way to go Amari!!

Lauren made 100 on her first College Algebra quiz and homework assignment.  She is Pre Engineering at USF and has a great future with those grades.  This doesn't come easy, but she is willing to put in the work to accomplish her goals.  Good work Lauren!!
